History

Around 1993 it was recognised that a club slightly separate from the Kingborough Netball Association (KNA) was needed in the Kingborough area to provide a pathway for elite players.

A few years later, the Southern Tasmanian Netball Association (STNA) separated from the Tasmanian Netball League to form the GIO League. It was decided the competition would comprise eight teams.  Eleven entries were received and selection for teams was by elimination playoff – which Kingston Blues won – and a licence to play in the GIO League was obtained.

Sponsorship was sought from local businesses to support the Club and it was at this time that Glendon Insurance Brokers came on board, and in 1996 the Club became the Glendon Kingston Blues Netball Club.

In 1999 the Glendon Kingston Blues, together with the Kingborough Netball Association, applied for a licence to play in the re-formed state wide Tasmanian Netball League (TNL).

Kingston Blues has grown to be a strong pathway for elite netballers as players, umpires and officials within Kingborough and the surrounding areas. The Club can name numerous state team representatives, state coaches and many badged umpires among its ranks. Apart from the two competitive State League teams (Seniors and 19s), we enter teams in the STNA Winter Roster – from Under 11s through to Premier League.

The Kingston Blues Netball club is located at the Kingborough Netball Association Courts off Kingston View Drive, Kingston.
